Poplar Ridge Farm Classes

Gluten Free Baking

March 22, 2014  11am-1pm

Learn simple recipes and techniques for creating hearty, family-friendly loaves of high-protein, low carbohydrate breads. Gluten-free baking will soon be a breeze as guests learn the basics of everyday loafs, sweet breads/muffins, and pizza crusts and bread sticks.

Guests will learn how to bake two items, will receive recipe cards, and will also take home a treat!

Class Instructor Ashley Eller, owner of The Sweetie Pie Bakery, is committed to nutritious cooking, and she specializes in gluten-free, vegan baking.

Tickets are $60 per person, OR $150 for three classes!

Refund Policy: Full refund two weeks prior to event, 50% refund one week prior to event, no refund 3 days prior to event.

Sweet and Savory Pie Baking Class

Cherry or pumpkin? Apple or spinach? Cookie crust, pastry shell, lattice top or crumble? Arguably one of the most delicious ways to feature fresh, seasonal fruits (and veggies!), pies are a culinary category all their own with many decisions involved. Fortunately, our guests will learn it all as we explore making sweet and savory pies with fail-proof, homemade, whole grain  gluten-free crusts.

Guests will learn how to bake a savory and a sweet pie, will receive recipe cards, and will also take home a treat!

Canning Class

The summertime glut of tomatoes, squash, peppers and cucumbers sure seem like a distant memory during the winter and early days of spring. But this year, you canprepare for the amazing onslaught of harvest bounty with Poplar Ridge Farm’s beginner canning class. Learn how to stock your pantry with varieties oftomato sauce and jars of jam and pickles. Your mid-summer compost pile may not thank you, but your winter pantry and diet surely will!

Guests will learn how to can two items, will receive recipe cards, and will also take home a treat!

Holiday Desserts

Big on taste and nutrition, this class raises the bar when it comes to sweet, satisfying indulgence. Learn how to improve the quality of even your most decadent desserts by cutting out processed and refined sugars and flours and replacing them with real, whole ingredients. We’ll discover how to use all-natural sweeteners and whole grains to create treats that satisfy even the most particular sweet tooth.

Guests will learn how to bake two desserts, will receive recipe cards, and will also take home a treat!
